Hydraulics Flashcards
How many HYD systems does the aircraft have and how are they classified
Three independent systems:
1) Green
2) Blue
3) Yellow
What are the power sources for each system?
1) Green - #1 Engine Driven Pump (primary) and Power Transfer Unit (alternate)
2) Blue - Electric Pump (primary), RAT (alternate)
3) Yellow #2 Engine Driven pump (primary), PTU (alternate), Electric Pump (alternate).
What is another way to provide pressure from the yellow system for cargo door operation? Is this displayed on the HYD page?
Hand Pump. Not displayed on HYD page
What are the displays of the hydraulic system reservoir quantity on the ECAM HYD page
1) Green Pointer Indicates Fluid quantity
2) Green Rectangle represents normal Fluid quantity
3) Amber Rectangle represents low quantity
If the the Pointer is at the Amber Rectangle, what ECAM indication will you get?
Amber RSVR LO LVL caution message
Where must the quantity pointer be during pre-flight with the system depressurized?
Within the the green rectangle
What is the status of the BLUE ELEC PUMP on the ground and in flight when the pb is selected AUTO (lights out)
1) On the ground - pump is automatically activated and runs continuously with first engine start
2) In flight - pump runs continuously regardless of engine operation provided AC power is available
Where are the Fire Shutoff Valves indicated on the ECAM HYD page for the green and yellow systems. How are they controlled
1) Depicted below the green engine pump depictions
2) Controlled by the respective ENG 1(2) FIRE pb
Which pumps are depicted on the ECAM HYD page
1) Green System Engine 1 pump
2) Blue System Elec Pump
3) Yellow System ENG 2 pump
4) Yellow System Elec Pump
5) PTU
6) RAT
What indications do you get when the Yellow Electric Pump is selected ON
1) ON (white) appears on the YELLOW ELEC PUMP pb
2) The triangle on the ECAM HYD page, next to the white ELEC indication turns solid green
What is the function of the PTU
It is a bi-directional hydraulic motor/pump which provides an alternate power source to either the green or yellow HYD systems
Does the PTU transfer fluid between the green and yellow systems
No - it transfers power (pressure).
What do green arrows pointing away from the white PTU label on the ECAM HYD page indicate
PTU is armed and not operating
What indication will you get on the ECAM HYD page if the PTU has been selected OFF or is inhibited
Amber arrows pointing away from the white PTU label
What do solid green arrows pointing either left or right on the ECAM HYD page indicate?
Left - PTU is supplying pressure to the Green System
Right - PTU is supplying pressure to the Yellow System
