Impact Of Training Of Lifestyle Diseases Flashcards
What is atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is build hip of fatty deposits that form hard plaque on arterial walls.
This narrows lumen, increasing likelihood of blood clot
What can regular training do (cardiovascular system)
Regular training can:
Reduce levels of blood lipids, slow development of atherosclerosis
Prevent hardening and loss of elasticity in arterial walls due to regular vasoconstriction and dilation
Decrease blood viscosity, and likelihood of clots, reduce stroke
Increase coronary circulation, reduce heart attacks
What can regular training do (respiratory)
Regular training can:
Ncrease respiratory muscle strength, alleviate symptoms of asthma
Decrease resting freq of breathing
Maintain full use of lung tissue and elasticity, decreasing infection risk from COPD
increase SA of alveoli and capillaries, maximising efficiency of gas exchange
How can risk of asthma attack be reduced
Risk of asthma attack can be reduced by a warm up, 15mins at 50% of max HR provides 2H protection
