What is the epidemiology for Imha
Common in dogs but rare in cats. Distinct breed and familial clustering. Most commonly middle aged intact bitches in estrus and whelping is a suggested trigger. Mostly middle-age dogs but there is been cases from ages 1 to 13. Affects younger felines.

What is the primary form of im ha
The bodies of me and system works incorrectly and produces antibodies which destroy red blood cells. This form is idiopathic and has no definitive cause
Describe the secondary form of imha
Surfaces of red blood cells are altered by disease drugs or talk soon. They can be triggered by a few conditions such as cancers infections blood parasites drug reactions. fiv/felv in cats
Describe the clinical presentation of an animal affected with imha
Lethargic, pale gums, weight loss, inappetent, black tarry stools, elevated pulse, shallow or rapid breathing
How do you diagnose imha
Blood test, low PCV values and serum is orange instead of beige
How do you treat imha
Slow destruction of red blood cells by giving immunosuppressive corticosteroids. Also support dog while it is in red blood cell level recovery. This is done by giving a blood transfusion
What is the prognosis for imha
Approximately 50% of dogs died within two weeks of admission
What is immune mediated hemolytic anemia
Type two antibody mediated immune response.
