Q

evaluate the humanistic approach

A

+ advocates holism, acknowledges that to understand human behaviour we must look at people as a whole not break down human behaviour to be explained by one thing such as genes. ^ validity because it looks at real life
- culture bound concepts - individualist culture - not generaliseable
+ client centred therapy - improve congruence, as well as sees P.P as good and strives for them to do better - happy useful better than freud?
- not actually that useful and has limited contribution to psychology since it lacks a sound evidence base and is based on abstract terms - not falsifibiale and cannot be tested
