human needs framework Flashcards
A behavior or action requiring an expenditure of energy by the person with volition and intent.
activity
The experience of a period of restoration evidenced by limited activity or inactivity, response, tranquility, mental and spiritual calm, freedom from the demands of role responsibility. Includes leisure time activities.
rest
The ingestion and assimilation of sufficient amounts of nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and fiber) required for growth, repair, and maintenance of body function via structurally competent body parts.
nutrition
the removal, expulsion of the end products of metabolism from the urinary bladder and colon.
elimination
Taking in and utilizing water, liquids, and electrolytes to accommodate body function.
fluid and electrolytes
the intake of the mixture of gases, particularly oxygen, from the atmosphere through the nose and mouth to the alveoli and the transport of carbon dioxide and other excretory gases from the alveoli to the atmosphere the diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide at the alveolar level and the transport of oxygen in the blood to the tissues with the interchange and removal of carbon dioxide from the tissues through the blood circulation thought the alveoli.
oxygenation and circulation
Fully functioning brain and nervous system, able to receive and interpret stimuli through all senses, able to self-preserve from danger/stress/harm
regulation, sensation, and perception
The experience of freedom from harm, danger or undue risk, injury, hazards involving the integrity of the body’s structure, the environment around the person and its interpretation by the client.
safety and comfort
The adequate functioning of cells to maintain the integrity of the body in response to stress, inflammation, and infection, and abnormal cellular growth.
cellular adaptation
The adequate physiological functioning of the gonads or sex organs.
reproduction
what is a social need
love, belonging and approval
(social need): The need to experience the giving and/or receiving of warm personal attachment and strong affection with others freely and honestly. Can be applied directly to the self, God, parent and kin, spouse, children and significant others. It is important that this process be reciprocal.
