Q

how does the hypothalamus communicate?

A

The hypothalamus transports hormones down the axon and stored in the nerve endings for the posterior pituitary. The anterior pituitary communicates via the hypothalamic-hypophyseal portal system. Secretion of hormones is in pulses and at certain times during the day.
