A
Anterior- quads
Posterior- glutes and hamstrings muscle mass
Gait:
-symmetry, Trendelberg;s gait (weak hip abductors)

Feel (patient lying supine)
A
- Greater trochanter
- Groin- medially to laterally

Move
A
Flexion- 100-130 degrees (passive AND active- patient own) - knee towards themselves
*think hip next to BOTTOM
Pull knee out and in
ONLY Passive- examiner
- internal and external rotation (leg bent)
- Adduction and Abduction (legs straight)

Special Tests
A
Trendelenburg’s Test:
patient presses hands against yours and stands on one leg - watch any weak hip abductors
Limb Lengths:
True- measure medial malleolus to iliac crests
Apparent- to xiphoid process (botttom)
