Screening Qs
-Any pain or stiffness in muscles??
-Walk up and down the stairs?
-Dress yourself?
Do GAIT WALK!!!
Arms
Work in order- arms then out > hands
put your hands up-POW POW
-arms behind head
-hands held out and assess for deformities
-Turn hands over and assess
-Make a fist to test hand and wrist function
Hand tests:
-grip- squeeze your hand
Feel:
-Feel all the hand joints- PIP, IP, PIP, etc
What does GALS stand for
general, arms, legs, and spine exam
Legs (look, feel, move)
Passive Movements: Examiner performs the movement
-Knee exam (move)
-hip exam (move)
Knee:
-Flex the knee towards the bottom far as possible
-Flatten the leg (extend)
-effusion test
Spine (look, feel, move)
-Neck movements- look right and left, up and down, lateral (ear to shoulder)
-Ask patient to touch their toes
Feel:
-palpate the spinous processes
Schobers (hand on back)
