Heart Lab Flashcards
What are the 4 main valves of the heart?
-Tricuspid
-Bicuspid
-Pulmonary Semilunar
-Aortic Semilunar
What does the Atrioventricular (AV) Valve do?
Prevent back flow of blood back into atria
What does the tricuspid valve do?
Right atrium to ventricle carrying CO2 blood
What does the bicuspid valve do?
Left atrium to ventricle carry O2 blood
What does the semilunar valve do?
Prevents back flow of blood back into ventricle
What does the pulmonary semilunar valve do?
Carry CO2 blood to lungs on right side
What does the aortic semilunar valve do?
Carry O2 blood on left side to aorta
How does oxygenated blood flow?
Enters left side of heart through pulmonary veins, then goes to the left atria ventricle and finally to the rest of the body through the aorta
How does deoxygenated blood flow?
Enters right side of the heart through inferior and superior vena cava. The SVC drain the upper half of the body and the IVC drains the lower. Proceeding, goes to the right atria to the ventricle to the lung
