A

DBS works closely with the police and helps to safeguarde both adults and children from harm by preventing unstable people from working with them by:
* Requests for criminal records & check police records
* Decide whether is appropriate for a person to be placed/removed from barred list
* Placing people on DBS childrens/adults barred list for England

  1. Employer recieve application from DBS
  2. Employer gives form to applicant to fill in
  3. Employer gives completed form to DBS
  4. DBS sends certificant to applicant, employer sees this
  5. Employer can check staus of DBS certificate online

What are the 3 types of DBS checks?

A
  • Standard: Checks for spent/unspent convitions, cautions, reprimands
  • Enhanced: Same as standard as well as information held by local police that is relevant
  • Enhanced with check lists: Includeds same as enhanced as well as a check of DBS barred lists
