What is discrimination?
When people judge others based on their differences and creates disadvantages and oppression.
What is discriminatory practices?
Involves treating someone unfairly or less favourably compared to others.
What do people discriminate others for?
like their race, etc…

- Age
- gender
- Sexual orientation
- Religion
What is direct discrimination?
Intentionally putting someone at a disadvantage or treating them differently based on their differences.
What is indirect discrimination?
When there’s a practice, policy or rule which applies to everyone in the same way, but it has a worse effect on some people than others.
What are the different types of abuse? Give an example.
- Sexual- groping
- Verbal- swearing, insults
- Physical- causing injuries
- Neglect- Fail to care for someone properly
- Psychological- Threats and constant criticism
What is prejudice?
A negative attitude or dislike of an individual or group, often based on ill-informed personal opinion
What is stereotyping?
Generalisation, often offensive and exaggerated, are made about a particular group of people.
What is labelling?
Attaching definition to an individual or group of people, usually a stereotype.
What is bullying?
Seek to harm, intimidate or coerce someone.
