What are the impacts of legislation and national initiatives?
- Person centred approach to care

Explain the impact to having a person centred approach.
Legislations focus on promoting and protecting the rights and needs of the individual. They meet individual needs, which imporvaes their quiality of life.
Explain the impact of empowerment.
Encourages others to make informed choices and decisions to control their own life.
Explain the impact of accessible services.
Adaptions such as ramps, automoatic doors, and lift assist contributes to making all settings accessible for all.
Explain the impact of providing a system of redress.
Each legislation outlines the rights individuals are entitled to. If they’re breached then the law can be enfored by taking legal action so the person or organisation is penalised. E.g. fine
Explain the impact of clear guidelines for practitioners to follow.
It makes it clear who can take decisions, in what situatinos and how they should go about it. It provides regulations about how to handle information about individuals.
Explain the impact of raising standards of care.
- Ofsted:
-Identifies areas for improvement
-Identitfies good practice - CQC:
-Monitors and inspects services
-Sets out standards of care required

Explain the impact of the staff seletion and interview complying with equality act.
The equality act has impacted on the way that staff are selected and interviewed
E.g. advertisements must not discriminate against certain groups
Explain the impact of organisational policies.
Organisational policies ensure health and social care or child care environments have attended to how they will provide the best quality of care which promotes equality
What are the benefits of organisational policies for the individuals requiring care or support?
- They ensure they’re treated faily
- They help prevent an individuals being discriminated against
- They help service users feel safe and asecure
What are the benefits of organisational policies for the care worker?
- They help them do their job more effectively
- They guide them on good practice and help them provide quality care
What are the benefits of organisational policies for the organisation?
- They help them to provide a quality service to children/parents/patients
- They ensure staff are working within the law
