Q

How do you ensure that the projects you are involved with are compliant with CDM regulations?

A

I would notify the client of the need to appoint a principal designer initially. I would ensure that key documentation such as the F10, construction phase plan and health and safety are completed. I would also ensure that the principal designer is in attendance at project meetings to assess design related matters.

Q

What would you do if you found asbestos on a construction site you were managing?

A

I would reach out to a asbestos specialist to assess the suspected asbestos on site. Following their assessment i would instruct a management survey / refurbishment survey depending on the scope of works or if the works need to be encapsulated / removed.

If managed / retained then asbestos register compiled and reviewed every 6 months.

Q

Was bi-weekly regular enough for the health and safety inspections for your 100,000sqft refurb?

A

Given the size of the project, it was felt this was regular enough. We discussed H&S at our weekly project meetings and if any red flags were raised then we would have requested for more regular H&S inspections.
