What is it and is it urgent
A
-when there’s blood in urine
-may be bright red blood or urine may be red/ brown
-rarely immediately life threatening

Macroscopic- visible haematuria
Microscopic- non visible

Common causes
A
-STI
-lower UTI
-pyelonephritis- kidney infection
-renal colic
-benign prostatic hyperplasia
-cancer- bladder, kidney, prostate
-trauma- pelvic or renal tract

Other symptoms and possible causes
A
-burning pain when peeing, smelly pee, high temp = UTI
-pain in sides, lower back/ groin that comes and goes, nausea = renal colic
-colder men difficulty urinating, need to pee suddenly and often = enlarged prostate
