What should you ask in a menstrual history?
A
- Date of LMP or menopause
- Cycles - number of days, regular?
- Heavy? If so, are there clots/floods? Frequency of change of sanitary products?
- Pain? Does pain precede period?
- Associated bowel symptoms?
- IMB? PCB? PMB?
- Age of menarche

What should you ask in a sex and contraception history?
A
- Sexually active? STIs? Vaginal discharge?
- Is sex painful? Superficial or deep?
- Using contraception? Happy with it?
- Problems conceiving? Treatment for subfertility?
- Date and result of last cervical smear?

What should be asked in a gynaecological history about urinary and prolapse symptoms?
A
- Frequency? Nocturia? Urgency? Dysuria? Haematuria? Leak urine?
- Dragging sensation or feel a pass in or at the vagina?

What should you ask about obstetrics in a gynaecological history?
A
- Any previous pregnancies?
- How many children?
- For each pregnancy: antenatal problems? Delivery? Gestation? Outcome? Weight of babies? Postnatal problems?
- TOP/miscarriages? At what stage? Why? Termination method?

What should you ask in a full sexual history?
A
- When?
- Who - casual/long-term partner? Gender?
- What - vaginal? Oral? Anal? Giving/receiving? Condoms?
- Where - partner from UK/abroad? How did you meet?
- Go back 3 months of sexual partners

What questions should you ask about risk factors for blood-borne viral sexual diseases?
A
- Every injected drugs/had a partner who did?
- Ever had sex with a man?
- Ever paid for/been paid for sex?
- Ever had a tattoo done outside the UK?
- For women - ever had sex with a partner who is bisexual?
- Ever been vaccinated against HAV/HBV/HPV?

What should you ask about if suspecting child sexual exploitation?
A
- Offered something in return for sexual activities?
- Food, alcohol, gifts, affection, protection offered?
- Partner who is disproportionally older/in a position of power?
