What is the insertion of gluteus minimis?
linear facet on the anterolateral aspect of the greater trochanter
What is the innervation to gluteus minimis?
superior gluteal nerve
What is the function of gluteus minimis? (4)
- abducts femur at hip joint
- holds pelvis secure over stance leg
- prevents pelvic drop on the opposite swing side during walking
- medially rotates thigh
What is the origin of gluteus medius?
external surface of ilium between anterior and posterior gluteal lines
What is the insertion of gluteus medius?
elongate facet on the lateral surface of the greater trochanter
What is the innervation to the gluteus medius?
superior gluteal nerve
What is the function of gluteus medius? (4)
- abducts femur at hip joint
- holds pelvis secure over leg stance
- prevents pelvic drop on the opposite swing side during walking
- medially rotates thigh
What is the origin of gluteus maximus? (6)
- fascia covering gluteus medius
- external surface of ilium behind posterior gluteal line
- fascia of erector spinae
- dorsal surface of lower sacrum
- lateral margin of coccyx
- external surface of sacrotuberous ligament
What gluteal lines are there? (3)
