What are the causes of FHF?
A
Common: Paracetamol, Fulminant viral (pork), Drugs, HBV, Non A-E
Rare Causes: AFLP, Mushrooms, Malignancy, Wilsons, Budd Chiari, HAV

What are the consequences of FHF?
A
encephalopathy, hypoglycaemia, coagulopathy, circulatory failure, renal failure, infection

What is the treatment of FHF?
A
supportive with fluids and inotropes
rarely renal replacement
management of raised ICP
transplantation
6hr blood tests and get the patient to ITU
(48-72hr transplant survival time if no liver available)

the severe impairment of hepatic functions or severe necrosis of hepatocytes in the absence of preexisting liver disease
