What is crude oil?
A
A fossil fuel made up of a mixture of different hydrocarbons.

How do you make crude oil work?
A
You must separate the hydrocarbons using fractional distillation.

How does fractional distillation work?
A
The oil is heated until most of it has turned into gas. The gas then renter the fractionating column.
In the column there is a temp gradient (hot at bottom cooler as u get to top)
longer hydrocarbon have higher boiling points which condense early on.
