FLIGHT CONTROL LAWS Flashcards

1
Q

WHAT IS ALPHA-FLOOR?

A

it’s a protection that commands TOGA thrust from liftoff - 100ft regardless of thrust lever position.
When the A/C angle-of-attack A-FLOOR threshold has been reached and the A/C decelerates significantly then it commands TOGA.

Q

WHAT IS V-ALPHA PROT?

A

When reached at low speeds ( ALPHA PROT +1) then:

-the autopilot disconnects and the A/C rolls wings level and pitches down to maintain ALPHA PROT.

Q

WHERE DOES V-ALPHA PROT, V-ALPHA MAX AND VSW GET THEIR DATA FROM?

A

They are computed via the FAC based on aerodynamic data for display on the PFD.
ACTIVATION of the protections is computed by the ELAC.

Q

WHAT IS PITCH ATTITUDE PROTECTION?

A

For excessive pitch attitudes at low spd the A/C will reduce AOA.

30* up in 0-3 CONF - will reduce to 25*
25* up in FULL - will reduce to 20*
15* nose down - indicated by green = sign

FD bars will disappear when pitch exceeds 25* up or 13* down. Will return when angle is 22* and 10* respectively

Q

WHAT IS GROUND MODE?

A

It is the direct relationship between sidestick deflection and elevator deflection without autotrim.

it may reduce max elevator deflection from 30* to 20*

Q

WHAT IS FLARE MODE?

A

When passing 100ft the THS is frozen. The sidestick deflection relates directly to the elevator without trim for full elevator authority at landing.

17
Q

WHAT IS BANK ANGLE PROTECTION?

A
  • A protection which will limit AOB to 67* and any increase over 33* it will automatically roll and return the the A/C to 33*
  • If AOA protections are active it will limit bank to 45*
  • If high spd protection active it will be limited to 40* and will always return to 0*
  • If 45* is exceeded the autopilot will disconnect & FD bars disappear, they return when at 40*

18
Q

WHAT ARE THE PROTECTIONS IN NORMAL LAW?

A
  • LOAD FACTOR
  • PITCH ATTITUDE
  • BANK ANGLE
  • HIGH SPEED
  • HIGH AOA
