Final test of Garbage Flashcards
Where are the tender points for anterior T1-T6? How do you treat these?
On the sternum. Just flex.
Where are the tender points for anterior T11-12? How do you treat these?
Lateral, and posterolateral respectively.
Rotate and side bend hips towards in pt supine
Where are the tender points for posterior T1-T4 spinous processes? How do you treat these?
On the spinous process itself
With pts arms to floor, rotate head away from pt, and rotate and side bend toward point with slight extension
When doing HVLA to the spine, to type I and II SDs, do you side bend toward or away for each?
Type I = side bend away
Type II = side bend toward
Where are the tender points for posterior T5-9 spinous processes? How do you treat these?
Hands under abdomen
rotate, side bend away with slight extension
Where are the tender points for posterior T10-12 spinous processes? How do you treat these?
Pts hands under ASIS
Rotate, side bend away, with slight extension

First rib midclavicular line
Where is the second anterior rib tender point?
Midclavicular line
Where are the anterior rib tender points for ribs 3-6?
Mid axillary line
Where are the L1-L5 tender points anteriorly?
L1 = Medial to ASIS L2 = Medial to AIIS L3 = Lateral to AIIS L4 = Inferior to AIIS L5 = Pubic ramus
How do you treat the anterior tender point for L1?
Rotate and side bend toward with hips and knees flexd
How do you treat the anterior tender point for L2-L4?
Rotate and side bend away with hips and knees flexed
How do you treat the anterior tender point for L5?
Flex hips and knees, cross legs, rotate toward, side bend away
Where is the posterior L5 upper pole tender point, and how do you treat it?
Superior to PSIS
Pt supine, lift leg and externally rotate
Where is the posterior L1-4 spinous process tender points, and how do you treat them?
At spinous process
- Extend to spinal level
- Side bend and rotate the pelvis towards the tender point
Where is the posterior L1-4 transverse process tender points, and how do you treat them?
on transverse processes
extend, side bend and rotate towards
Where is the posterior L5 lower pole tender point, and how do you treat it?
Inferior to PSIS
Knee off edge at 90, adduct the knee
Where are the iliolumbar tender points? How do you treat them?
Superior/posterior aspect of the iliac crest
Extend ipsilateral hip with pt supine, Abduct the leg
When treating anterior rib tender points, where does your foot stand (opposite side, or same side)? Posterior points?
Anterior = Opposite Posterior = Same
Vowels go together
How do you treat locked up ribs 1-5?
Flex pt until motion felt at rib
Pull on the anterior aspect of the rib during exhalation
How do you treat locked up ribs 6-9?
Flex and side bend pt until motion felt at rib
Pull on the anterior aspect of the rib during exhalation
How do you treat locked up ribs 11-12?
Arm on side is inferiorly directed
Taco
During exhalation, push down and out on rib
Which muscle is utilized with treating locked up ribs 11-12?
QL
Which muscle is utilized with treating locked down ribs 11-12?
Lat dorsi
What muscle is utilized when treating locked down rib 1? 2? How many degrees is the head rotated for each?
1 = Anterior and middle scalene, 15 2 = posterior scalene, 30
What muscle is utilized when treating locked down ris 3-5?
Pec minor
What muscle is utilized when treating locked down ribs 6-9?
Serratus anterior
What way does the OA rotate?
Opposite the sidebending
C3 translates equally to each side in flexion. C3 translates easier to the right in extension. Diagnose the SD.
C3 is flexed rotated left, side bent left
What is the treatment for the inion tender point?
Flex to 45
Where is the posterior C1 tender point? Treatment?
Just lateral to the inion.
Extend, SARA
Where is the posterior C2 tender point? Treatment?
superior lateral surface of spinous process of C2
Extend, SARA
Where is the posterior C3 tender point? Treatment?
Inferior lateral surface of C2
Flex to 45 degrees with SARA
Where are the posterior C4-C8 tender points? Treatment?
- Inferior lateral surface of the spinous process above the level
- Extend, SARA
Where is the anterior C1 tender point? Treatment?
Posterior edge of the ramus of the mandible
Rotate head away

Lateral SCM head
flex, SARA
Where is the anterior C8 tender point? Treatment?
Medial SCM head
Flex, SARA
What is the general set up for ME of the lower cervicals?
- Induce rotation and sidebending opposite the diagnosis
- Pt tries to bring toward midline, neutral. Resist, bring through barrier.
How do you set up HVLA for the cervical spine?
