ATA Carnet
An international customs document that permits duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods for up to one year. It eliminates or reduces VAT charges, customs fees, and bond fees. The initials “ATA” are an acronym of the French and English words “Admission Temporaire/Temporary Admission.” ATA Carnets cover commercial samples; professional equipment; and, goods for presentation or use at trade fairs, shows, exhibitions, etc. Items not covered are consumable or disposable goods, which will not be returned home. Cost, Insurance, Freight (CIF)
A trade term requiring the seller to arrange for the carriage of goods by sea to a port of destination, and provide the buyer with the documents necessary to obtain the goods from the carrier. (Week 11)
Customs Broker
An individual or company which provides customs clearing services to shippers of goods to and from another country. (Week 11)

Environmentally Preferable Product

Ex Gratia Payment

Fair Trade
A market initiative to insure that small farmers in developing countries are paid a fair market price that encourages independence and sustainability. Agricultural products may be Fair Trade certified. (Week 11)

A third-party logistics provider which handles export shipments for customers using common carriers. (Week 11)
Greenwashing
a form of spin in which green PR or green marketing is deceptively used to promote the perception that an organization’s products, aims or policies are environmentally friendly. Evidence that an organization is greenwashing often comes from pointing out the spending differences: when significantly more money or time has been spent advertising being “green” (that is, operating with consideration for the environment), than is actually spent on environmentally sound practices (Week 11)
No-Idling Policy
Idling cars and trucks emit air pollutants including nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and particles. Less idling means less wasted fuel, which can saves money. (Week 11)
Outboarding
The practice of conducting an event related to an existing meeting but not approved by the event’s host organization (Week 11)
Pro Forma Invoice
Financial forms (invoices, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, etc.) based on future expectations; provided or made in advance to describe items or projections. (Week 11)
Reasonable Accommodation
Any provision that aids the participation of a person with a disability, as long as it does not create a hazard to others, a major disruption in business or an undue financial or administrative burden. (Week 11)
Sustainability Management Plan
Integrated into every aspect of planning the event. Considers environmental, social and economic factors. Begin with the 4-Rs: ReThink, Reduce, Re-use, Recycle (Week 11)

An event with a balanced approach to economic activity, environmental responsibility and social progress. (Week 11)

Identification Sign
A sign designed to identify the meeting or event and any special features that may be of interest to the attendees (Week 11)
Incentive
A concession or reward for booking a hotel room within the contracted room block for a meeting/event. (Week 11)

A sign designed to provide information for attendees about the program, changes to the program or other vital details (Week 11)
