Catchment Areas (market/trade/or tributory
The geographic area from which participants in an activity are drawn.
Example:
1. area of which patrons of a supermarket or shopping center reside (Kaplan, PPP, 158)
Residential Catchment areas
Determined by local transit systems, encouraging the formation and development of the area
Metes -and -bounds
Verbal description (narrative) of the land that begins at a known point and describes the bearing and length of each side of the property until the point of the beginning is reached (Kaplan, PPP, 180)
Parallels
East - West Lines Survey
Meridians
A survey establishing a grid of North - South Lines on a survey
Countour interval
Change in elevation between two contours. Smaller scaled maps typically have larger interval clarity.
Crown/Ridge
Contour lines point don toward the lower elevation
Swale/Valley
Contour line points up towards the higher elevation
Hills
Concentrated circles with the elevations getting higher towards the center
Depression
Concentric circles with elevations towards center getting lower
Site Analysis
The purpose of it is to determine if a parcel of land is suitable
Investigating the site requires, survey info, topographic, geological info., zoning ordinances
Plat
Description of a plot of land, drawn to show the division of a piece of property
