Put secretions into the circulatory system

Secretions are guided to specific tissues and cells through ducts
What is the common bile duct?
A duct that takes bile into the upper small intestine from the gall bladder
What is the function of the pancreas?
Secretes pancreatic bicarbonate and several digestive enzymes
What is the pancreatic duct?
A duct that takes enzymes to the small intestine
What is the only organ with both endocrine and exocrine secretions?
The pancreas
What are blood glucose levels regulated by?
The endocrine functions of the pancreas
What are antagonistic hormones?
Hormones with the opposite effects
What are target cells?
Cells with receptors or specific endocrine hormones
What do endocrine use for body responses?
Chemical messengers
What are the 2 categories of hormone chemicals?
Steroidal hormones and peptides
What is included in steroidal hormones?
Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol (All derived from cholesterol)
What are peptides?
Different amino acids form of many hormones
What is the function of tropic hormones?
Influence other endocrine glands
