Cretinism
Deficiency of thyroxine In children; causes reduced growth
Cushing’s syndrome
Overproduction of cortisol; causes an accumulation of fat, weak muscles, and bruise easily
Diabetes insipidus
Deficiency of antidiuretic hormone; causes excess urination and thirst
Diabetes mellitus
Hyposecretion of insulin; causes hyperglycemia and can because by stress or obesity
Exophthalmos
Hyperthyroidism; causes protrusion of the eyes
Gigantism
Oversecretion of growth hormone during childhood
Goiter
Hypo/hypersecretion by the thyroid that can be due to lack of iodine; causes enlargement of the thyroid gland
Graves’ disease
Caused by hyperthyroidism; causes weight loss, hypertension, and nervousness
Hyperglycemia
Excessive amount of glucose; causes high blood sugar
Hypoglycemia
Lack of glucose; causes low blood sugar
