chancre at site of inoculation (appears 10 days - 3 months)
-lip, anus, vagina

- occurs 6 months later if not treated;
- generalized red, flat/raised rash, palms & soles of feet
latent clinical mani for syph
no symptoms - 2-30 years
tertiary clinical mani for syph
organism invades central nervous system, dementia
chlamydia
most common STD, often occurs with gonnorhea
chlamydia organism
Chlamydia trachomatis - potent scar former
risk factors for chlamydia
- sex with an infected partner
- multiple partners
- age 15-24 – most common age to have
- nonbarrier contraceptives
- low socioeconomic status - tend to have high number sexual partners and poor health care

- cervicitis
- urethritis
- vaginal discharge/gray-white
- dysuria
- urinary frequency
- vaginal bleeding
- pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
