What is the spermatic cord?
The spermatic cord suspends the testis in the scrotum and contains structures running to and from the testis
What is the spermatic cord covered by?
It is covered by the internal spermatic fascia
What are the two types of spermatic fascia?
The cremasteric fascia and the external spermatic fascia
What are both types of spermatic fascia derived from?
They are derived from the layers of the abdominal wall - the testis pass through them as they descend into the scrotum in early childhood
What does the spermatic cord consist of?
The ductus deferens which carries the sperm, the blood vessels which supply and drain testicular blood, the sympathetic and somatic nerves and the lymphatic vessels
What is the ductus deferens a continuation of?
The epididymis
What does the ductus deferens ascend into?
In the spermatic cord into the abdominal cavity, loops over the ureter on its respective side and descends posterior to the urinary bladder
What do the ductus deferens combine with?
Combines with the duct of the seminal vesicle to form the ejaculatory duct
