what is another meaning for canon?
A
rule or measuring stick , it is a catalogue of secret writings approved as inspired scriptures, reliable and authoritive as a standard for the rule of faith.
it is the measure or rule as well as the list of that which is measured.
a collection of inspired writtings made by traditilon and authority of the church which contain the rule of divine faith.
the scriptures were the rule by which faith (doctrine) and paractice (conduct) were to be measured .
