What are the key properties for a temporary material?
Low temperature rise during polymerisation. (the temp material encapulates the tooth prep- so thermal release is a safety issue.
Colour stability- we do not want the colour to change easily due to staining.
Low Polymerisation shrinkage- gives a good clinical fit of the temporary restoration.
High Compressive strength to withstand biting forces.
High Abrasion resistance- to resist the wear down of the surface.
How do you measure the fit of the temporary restoration?
by looking at the marginal discrepancy (how big a gap there is at the margins)
