Rabies
is a serious illness caused by the infection of the rabies virus through the bite of rabies-infected animals which usually leads to death. The virus is spread by saliva and animals with rabies is usually not recognizable
an animal is suspected of having the virus when it is aggressive and restless
Symptoms of rabies
flu-like symptoms between 2 to 12 weeks
- develop paralysis, brain dysfunction, anxiety, insomnia, confusion, terror, restlessness, or abnormal behavior
- inability to talk or swallow leads to hydrophobia which causes patient to struggle with swallowing because of numbness of the throat or jawbone
Treatment for rabies
- patient is fed intravenously and receives support treatment for the heart and respiratory system
- medication is given for pain and to calm the patient down

Symptoms of cholera

The quick loss of body fluids leads to dehydration and shock
Prevention of cholera
- Food must be cooked thoroughly
- boil drinking water or treat every 25 litres of water with a teaspoon of commercial bleach
- raw fruits and vegetables must be avoided if in contact with contaminated water
- avoid raw or half-cooked fish or shellfish salads and raw vegetables
- not recommended to buy food and drinks from street sellers
TB
TB is found in the lungs, but it can affect all the organs
Symptoms of TB
persistent cough, weight loss, night sweats, chest pains, and hemoptysis
Anthrax
is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium bacillus anthracis. This disease is well known amongst animals and people and is one of the 10 plagues in Egypt. This disease can form spores and can survive for a long time
Infection of anthrax
- sometimes a black boil like inflammation occurs in the skin of people
- can develop into pneumonia followed by sepsis and can usually lead to death
- When infected meat is not cooked at a high enough temperature, it can lead to infection
