Defense Mechanisms

A

1) Projection: putting my own feelings of inadequacy on another person/thing
2) Reaction formation: -> opposite; do more acceptable behavior, rather than what actually feel
3) Sublimation: displace feelings into something positive or beneficial for society (art/music)
4) Displacement: places feelings onto safer target (mad at boss, manager take out on employees)
5) Regression: regress to baby tantrums
6) Repress: unconsciously forget
7) Suppress: purposely/voluntarily forget
