Q

What is Enamel Infraction?

A

enamel is fractures but no tooth surface loss
- looks like cracks and lines
- can use transillumination to diagnose

Q

What is an Enamel-Dentine-Pulp Fracture and how to Treat?

a complicated crown fracture, exposing the pulp

  • pulp cap

Q

What are Crown-Root Fractures?

A

involves enamel, dentine and maybe pulp
fracture line extends below gingival crevice and alveolar bone margin

  • crown fragment may be attached

Q

What is Concussion Dental Trauma? Describe it.

A

injury of tooth support structure

with reaction to horizontal or vertical percussion

  • PDL fibres = intact
  • not displaced, not mobile

16
Q

What is Subluxation Dental Trauma? Describe it.

A

injury of periodontal tissue

  • PDL fibres tear
  • not displaced
  • increased mobility
  • gingival haemorrhage

sublaxation = partial dislocation

17
Q

What is Extrusion Dental Trauma? Describe it.

A

extrusion - forced pushing out

  • partial displacement of tooth out of alveolar socket
  • PDL fibres rupture and tear
  • very mobile
  • displaced
  • gingival haemorrhage
  • clinically elongated
18
Q

What is Lateral Luxation Dental Trauma? Describe it.

A

tooth is displaced alongside fracture of alveolar bone

  • PDL ruptures and compressed
  • not as mobile as it locks into bone
  • very displaced
  • gingival haemorrhage
  • high tone on percussion
  • neurovascular supply disruption
19
Q

What is Avulsion Dental Trauma? Describe it.

A

complete displacement of tooth out of socket

  • replant asap or place in milk
20
Q

What is Intrusion Dental Trauma? Describe it.

A

tooth is displaced into the alveolar bone, with fracture of the alveolar socket

  • displaced vertically upwards
  • periodontal structures crushed
  • neurovascular bundle disrupted
  • may become necrotic
