- Canopy unlocked and BAT on
- Horn if canopy unlocked and magnetos switched on.
(switches in each side og canopy detects)
Engine fire warning light
When will it illuminate ?
Engine compartment above 275 degrees C

Below 6.5 PSI (+/- 2 PSI)
Generator caution light
When will it illuminate ?
Below 25 volt (+/- 0.5 volt)
Fuel pump caution light
When will it illuminate ?
Fuel pump ON and delivering minimum 20 PSI (+/- 1 PSI)
How much fuel does each tank hold ?
Gallons and liter
23.5 Gallons / 89 liters
47 gallons in total / 178 liter
How much usable fuel does each fuel tank have ? (gallons)
21 Gallons
42 gallons in total
How many G’s is the shoulder harness stressed for ?
20 G
When will you encounter a dent in the propeller (RPM) control ?
2500 RPM
How should you fly to read fuel indication ?
Straight and level
With partly filled tanks the fuel quantity may show a false value pr. tank up to ?
3.5 gallons
With completely empty tanks the fuel quantity may show as much as __ gallons in ___ ?
2 gallons in each tank
CAUTION:
If generator is charging primary and secondary buses and battery switched is turned off
What do you do and why ?
Leave it off - may damage and cause loss of generator power.
When BAT switched is turned on it’s connected to ?
The primary bus only
How can you connect the battery to the secondary bus ?
By switching the generator on
When will the stall warning horn sound ?
5-10 kt. before stall speed
How is CO indicated/detected?
Carbon monoxide indicator
Gradually turns black
What type of fire extinguisher does the T-17 have onboard ?
Halon Fire extinguisher
How many times are you allowed to reset a circuit breaker?
1 time
Which lights are the “navigation lights” and how do we turn them on ?
The red on the LH wing
The green on the RH wing
The white on the tail cone
Turned on by the position switch
Which lights are the “Anti-collision lights” and how are they turned on ?
The 2 red lights on the tail.
Turned on by the beacon switch
Which lights are the “Strobe lights” and how are they turned on ?
The white light on each wing
By the “Strobe light” switch
What is the total fuel capacity ( in Gallons/Liter ) of:
1) Each tank
2) Total capacity
1) 23.5 Gallons / 89 Liters
2) 47 Gallons / 178 Liters
How many G’s is the shoulder harness stressed for ?
20 g
Which 4 types of lights does “Exterior lighting” consist of ?
Landing light
Taxi light
Navigation lights
Anti-collision lights
When encountering the dent in the propeller lever, adjustments from ____ to ____ RPM is possible.
2500 RPM - 2700 RPM
Other than showing RPM, what is it possible to read on the RPM indicator ?
Engine operating hours
What is the starting motor ? (type/volt)
electrical 24 volt motor
What is oil pressure indicated in ? (unit)
psi
What type of oil system does the T-17 have ?
Full pressure wet sump
Operated by a pump
Why can we only read 42 Gallons on the fuel indicator ?
The total fuel capacity is 47 Gallons.
But each tank holds 2.5 gallons of unusable fuel.
The T-17 has 2 fuel pump systems
Name them both
- Engine driven fuel pump
2. Electrically driven auxiliary fuel pump
What does it indicate when the fuel pump light is illuminating ?
The auxiliary fuel pump is on
and supplying sufficient fuel pressure for engine operation
Why can you only get correct fuel reading when straight and level ?
Float type fuel quantity transmitter
WARNING
(…) with partly filled tanks each fuel indicator may i.a.w. the technical specifications show as much as _____ more than the actual quantity (…)
3.5 US Gall
WARNING
(…) with completely empty tanks indicators may show as much as _____ in each tank
2 Gall
Which generator does the T-17 have ?
Engine driven 28 volt generator
What type of battery does the T-17 have ?
24 volt, 11 AH, Lead acid battery
When EPU is switched on it’s bus is powered by ?
Either primary bus og EPU
Whichever has more voltage
After engine shut down, when opening the canopy and hearing a warning horn - what does this mean ?
EPU switch on
In broad words, what is connected to the secondary bus ?
External lighting Trim Nav aids Flaps UHF VHF
In broad words, what is connected to the primary bus ?
Warning lights GPS Instrument lights EPU Pitot heat
What is typically the reason for low generator voltage ( GEN CAUTION LIGHT)
Malfunction in the charging system
WARNING
What must be controlled when the Locking pins has been moved ?
That they are fully engaged
CAUTION
Should you use both trim systems at the same time ?
No - It may cause damage to the system
Moister/icing conditions
Indicated climb rate is sluggish
How can you verify suspected obstructions ?
Switching alternate static air on
Noticing a change i climb rate
May be accompanied by increase IAS 5-10 kts + Altitude changes beyond normal differences
