What is cystic fibrosis?
An inherited recessive genetic disease causing a genetic mutation on chromosome 7 causing problems with the CFTR protein
What does CFTR stand for?
Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Regulating
What does the CFTR protein control?
Acts as a channel protein enabling ion transport
What three ions are compromised in CF?
Chloride, sodium and water
