A

High potential for abuse.
Has accepted medical use for treatment.

Examples: Codeine, cocaine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, meperidine, morphine, methadone, secobarbital, pentobarbital, oxycodone, amphetamine, methylphenidate, and others

A

Less abuse potential than C-II.
Accepted medical use.

Examples: Codeine with selected other medications (e.g., acetaminophen), pentobarbital rectal suppositories, and dihydrocodeine combination products
