Define community
A group of people who share common interests
What are the three characteristics of a community?
- Sharing -> People share their time, talents, ideas and possessions
- Co-operation -> Choosing to work together for the benefit of all
- Communication -> The exchange of information and ideas with others
What are the three key skills of communication?
- Good eye contact
- Good body language
- Active listening
Why is communication important?
- It helps us to share our ideas
- It helps us to get on better with people
- It helps us to respect and understand eachother
Roles an responsibilities
Tasks that people are expected to perform in a community
Community breakdown
Disruption in a group due to poor communication, lack of co-operation, a refusal to share and a failure to carry out roles responsibly
What is a compromise?
A compromise is a “win-win” situation. Both sides get something but no-one gets everything
What are the five key skills of a compromise?

- Listen to the other point of view
