Circulatory 1: Thorax, Head Flashcards
What does the abdominal aorta split into?
Right and left common iliac arteries
What two arteries come off the ascending aorta?
Right and left coronary arteries
What comes off the left coronary artery
Anterior interventricular artery and circumflex artery
What feeds the left marginal artery?
Circumflex artery
What does the right coronary artery feed?
Right marginal artery, posterior interventricular artery
What three things come off the arch of the aorta?
1- Brachiocephalic artery
2- Left common carotid artery
3- Left subclavian artery
What does the brachiocephalic artery turn into and feed?q
Right common carotid, then right subclavian, then the right subclavian feeds the right vertebral artery
Where do the common carotids go?
Head and brain
Where do vertebral arteries go? What do they travel through?
The brain, via the transverse foramina of the transverse processes of the C vertebrae
Right common carotid comes off _______; Left common carotid comes off ______ ______.
Brachiocephalic
aortic arch
What do the right and left common carotid arteries split into?
R/L Internal Carotid
R/L External Carotid
How is the basilar artery formed
Formed by joining of left and right vertebral arteries
What do the internal carotids supply?
Brain/eye: 80% of cerebrum and 1-ophthalmic artery (central artery of the retina→ ciliary branches → choroid) 2- anterior cerebral artery 3- middle cerebral artery
What do the external carotids supply?
Supply most external head structures, thyroid, tongue, face via facial artery, ear, scalp
Where do vertebral arteries enter the skull? What do they supply?
Enter skull thru foramen magnum, unite to form the basilar artery, which supplies: cerebellum, pons, inner ear
