16
Q

Air purifying respirator: level of protection, when to use, when to replace it?

A

use physical and chemical filters to trap and remove contaminate from the air being breathed
must be used in well ventilated location

17
Q

What is the purpose of a respirator fit test and seal check?

A

The fit test is a method used to select the right respirator size.

18
Q

When should you preform a fit test? seal check?

A

Perform a fit test prior to initial use of a face piece type respirator and annually thereafter

Seal check - every time you put a respirator on

19
Q

How do you conduct a fit test?

A

Qualitative Test - a work is exposed to an atmosphere containing an odorant then reports any noticeable oder

Quantitative- Particle contain instrument is used to measure respirator fit by measuring dust content inside and outside of respirator

20
Q

How do you conduct a seal test?

A

Positive Pressure Check - Cover the exhalation valve and exhale gently into the face piece. A slight positive pressure should build up without any leakage

Negative Pressure Check - Cover the cartridge and inhale gently to collapse the face piece slightly. Hold your breath for 10 s. If the facepice remain slightly collapsed it is sealed

21
Q

What is the proper storage of PPE?

A

Store in a clean area protected from sunlight, moisture, extreme temperature, and pesticides or other chemicals

22
Q

What is the proper inspection of PPE?

A

Inspect for signs of wear or abrasion, check for rips and leaks, discard items that show signs of wear including thin areas and tiny holes

23
Q

How do you launder pesticide contaminated work clothes?

A

What separately. Hang garmets outdoors to air out. Load only a few items and wash with hot water/highest water level. Run the washer twice. Line dry for 24 hours. Run the washer through once to clean machine
