Use classification statement
a restricted use pesticide statement will be at the top of the front panel of the pesticide label if applicable
Type of pesticide
usually indicated on the from panel of the label by a short general statement about what pests the product controsl
Net Content
label must show the weight or volume of product that is in the container
Name and address of manufacturer
must be listed on the label
EPA registration number
must appear on the front panel of all pesticide labels. Indicates the pesticide product has been registered and its label approved by the EPA
EPA establishment number
must appear on the front panel of all pesticide labels. Indicates the facility that produced the product
Safety Information
label will let you know what risks the pesticide poses to your health, what you can do to minimize those risks, and how you should respond if you are expose to the pesticide
Signal Words
indicate a products relative acute toxicity to humans and animals.
List the signal words
Danger - Poison (highly toxic)
Danger (sever eye damage, skin irritation)
Warning (moderately toxic)
Caution (slightly toxic)
Precautionary Statement
additional statement to help you decide what precautions to take to protect yourself and others
Physical or Chemical Hazards
describes any special fires explosion or chemical hazards the product may pose
Route of Entry statement
which routes of entry may be particularly hazardous
Protective Clothing and Equipment Statement
labels vary in the type of information they provide
follow all label statement on PPE but also consider signal word, route of entry, and specific action statements
universal precautionary statements
do not contaminate food or feed
remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse
wash throughly after handling and before eating or smoking
what clean clothes daily
do not allow children or domestic animals into the treated area
First aid statements
first aid recommended in case of poisoning or accidental exposure
emergency telephone number
pesticide manufacturer
reentry statement
instruction for when it is safe for you and others to reenter a site that has been treated.
special toxicity statement
will tell you if a pesticide is especially hazardous to wildlife
general environmental statements
appear on virtually every label and most should be followed even when they are not on the label
do not apply when runoff is likely
do not apply when weather conditions favor drift
do not contaminate water by improperly disposing
do not apply when bees are likely to be in the area
do not apply directly to water or to areas where surfaces water is present
