Jesus did not tell his Apostles to write the Scripture. They wrote them down, however, when they realized that Jesus was not coming back in their lifetime in order to preserve the teachings for future generations. The letters were written down because when they couldn’t travel to certain places they would just write letters and have them delivered there.
