27
Q

Essay Question: Why is the Resurrection important to the Paschal Mystery?

A

Without the Resurrection, our faith has no meaning. The Resurrection is a historical event: happened in a certain time and place, MM and Apostles witnessed, St. Paul record 500 people He appeared to.
Resurrection is transcendent: Jesus’s resurrected life was not a return to an old life, but a new, eternal life, no death or sickness.
Resurrection - Christ’s Divinity: Only God has power over death, it’s also a sign of hope that anything we do in Christ’s name will bear fruit.
The Resurrection fulfills promises:
Jesus makes several promises throughout History for Resurrection. Several OT passages refer to the Resurrection. BC Christ died and rose again, we have the possibility of rising with Him, if we are adopted sons and daughters of God.
