Braddock’s Defeat

A

A terrible defeat of British Regulars by a combined force of French woodsmen and Native Americans. George Washington was an aide to Braddock during the campaign, and the resulting destruction of this British army left the entire frontier vulnerable to Indian attacks.

Pontiac’s Rebellion

A

A Native American rebellion that began in Detroit and spread, destroying all but three posts west of the Appalachians. The British later retaliated brutally, distributing blankets laced with smallpox to Indian tribes.
