Gonorrhoea and salmonella
What are the symptoms of gonorrhoea?
~ there are not always symptoms but:
~ unusual discharge from vagina or penis (thick green or yellow)
~ pain when peeing
~ bleeding between period
How does gonorrhoea spread?
Through unprotected vaginal, oral or anal sex
How can gonorrhoea be prevented?
Contraception
How can gonorrhoea be treated?
With antibiotics - 1 injection or 1 course
What are the symptoms of salmonella?
~ diarrhoea ~ abdominal cramping ~ fever ~ nausea, vomiting ~ headache ~ muscle aches
How does salmonella spread?
~ food and water - food poisoning - fecal matter
~ direct animal contact
~ fecal-oral route - manure - not washing hands properly
~ rarely from person-to-person
How can salmonella be prevented?
~ avoid eating raw or barely cooked eggs ~ don’t eat raw or under-cooked beef, pork, or poultry ~ refrigerate food properly ~ wash hands well ~ clean kitchen surfaces
How can salmonella be treated?
With antibiotics
