difference knowledge test and psychomotor ability test
if a test is a knowledge test then it only assesses the extent to which you know things. While a psychomotor test is a test that also involves the coordinated movement of the limbs.
what is a screen-in test?
a screen in test is a test used to add information about the positive attributes of a candidate that might predict outstanding performance. An example is a personality test.
What is a screen-out test?
A screen-out test is a test used to a eliminate candidates who are clearly unsuitable for employment. Examples are tests of psychopathology.
two types of integrity tests
- overt integrity test
- personality based integrity test.
what is an overt integrity test?
an overt integrity test asks directly about your past honesty behavior as well as attitudes toward behaviors.
what is a personality based integrity test?
a personality based integrity test infers honesty and integrity from questions dealing with broad personality constructs.
positives/negatives integrity test
an integrity test predicts overall performance better than the five factor model but is worse at predicting counterproductive work behavior than FFM.

- structured interviews
- situational interviews
- unstructured interviews
what are structure interviews
the structure interview consist of very specific questions asked of each candidate. This includes tightly crafted scoring schemes with detailed outlines for the interviewer with respect to assigning ratings or scores based on interview performance.
what are situational interviews?
situational interview is an assessment procedure in which the interviewee is asked to describe in specific and behavioral detail how he or she would respond to a hypothetical situation.
what are unstructured interviews
unstructured interview is an interview format that includes questions that may vary by candidate and that allows the candidate to answer any form preferred.
what are assessment centers?
assessment centers are collections of procedures for evaluation. It does come with problems such as inter rater reliability, that they do not always agree with each other since assessors work in groups and that it is expensive. advantages are that it has relatively high predictive validity.
what is a work sample test?
a work sample test is an assessment procedure that measures job skills by taking samples of behavior under realistic job like conditions.
what is a situational judgement test?
a situational judgement test is a test where the candidate get a written scenario and the candidate should choose the best response from a series of alternatives.
