Cuban Missile Crisis

Who- Soviets, Kennedy
What- Russia was setting up to put missiles in Cuba and the USA didn’t like that so they set up a quarantine around Cuba and then the Soviet Union was like “I’ll stop if you stop” so then both sides backed down and there was no fighting.

When- 1961
Why- Soviet Union was commie and USA didn’t like commies and didn’t like being threatened by missiles at their front door.

What- He wanted to gain control of Vietnam after WW2 and he eventually did
Where- Vietnam

Why- The US didn’t know whether to side with Vietnam or France but leaned towards siding with France because Truman wanted to promote a strong economic revival for western Europe and from pressure from France and Great Britain

What- An organization closely allied with the North Vietnamese government. It was committed to overthrowing Diem’s “puppet regime” and reuniting the nation.

Why- USA supported the Southern Vietnamese people, so they didn’t like the NLF

Who- Northern Vietnamese
What- The routes by which North Vietnam soldiers infiltrated the South.
Where- Vietnam
When- 1967
Why- The Northern Vietnamese had gotten all their noticeable buildings bombed. To infiltrate the South without getting bombed, they started making underground trails and bunkers to continue fighting in the war.

What- The Northern attacked Southern people and massacured a ton of them when they overtook some southern cities

Why- By offering a vision of stability, law and order, government retrenchment, and “peace with honor” in Vietnam, he easily captured the Republican presidential nomination.
