What is the purpose of Search and rescue
The purpose of a building search is to locate and rescue fire victims, to find, extinguish,
and report fire extension.
The Incident Command Manual dictates that the Fire Command’s priorities in the order:
- Safety
- Rescue
- Fire Control
- Salvage
Rescue Priority of Victims
- Most severely threatened.
- Largest number that have gathered in groups.
- The remainder.
define primary search
Primary Search – is a rapid but thorough search to determine the location of victims;
performed either before or during fire suppression operations.
