Chapter 1 City of Edmonton Core Subjects Flashcards
What are the 3 basic components of WHIMS?
Labels
Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Worker Education
Define WHMIS
WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
To reduce incidents of workplace exposure to and accidents with hazardous material must be
easily identifiable to workers. Once the material is identified the worker must know how to
handle the material safely and find information on the material.
Describe and list the information that must be included on a Supplier and Workplace label.
These labels must have a distinctive
WHMIS border of a contrasting color to
the package. The label must contain
eight separate pieces of information…
Refer to
Workplace Label
These labels must contain three of the eight
kinds of information:
1.Product Identifier (name of
material)
2.Safe Handling Precautions
3.SDS
List the sections found within a Safety Data Sheet.
1.Identification
2.Hazard Identification
3.Composition/
