Aorta
The main artery of the body; exits the left ventricle
Artery
A thick, muscular blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart
Capillary
A microscopic blood vessel that connects arteries to veins
Vein

Pulmonary Veins
Any of the veins that carry oxygen-rich blood back to the heart from the lungs
Pulmonary Circulation
The path of blood vessels from the heart to the lungs and back
Plasma
The liquid part of the blood
Red Blood Cell
A disc-shaped cell in the blood which contains hemoglobin for carrying oxygen
Hemoglobin
An iron-containing protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen
White Blood Cell
An amoeboid cell in the blood that engulfs and destroys pathogens
Platelet
A colorless cell fragment in the blood that begins the clotting process
Fibrinogen
