Stereotype
Generalised and simplified belief of a group or an individual belonging to those groups.
Tri-Component of attitudes
These components include Affective, Behaviour, and cognitive

Affective component - feelings and emotions towards an object.
B
Behavioural component - Behaviour towards an object.
C
Cognitive component - thoughts, ideas and understanding about an object.
Prejudice
an unfavourable or negative attitude towards a group of people, based on insufficient or incorrect information about the group
Discrimination
the action that expresses the attitude of prejudice and it is often an individual who is the victim.
scapegoating
blaming a person or group for a negative action, event or result
Robbers cave experiment (1961)
Researchers: Muzafer Sherif & colleagues
Purpose: Study intergroup conflict and cooperation
Participants: 22 boys, ages 11-12, split into two groups (Eagles & Rattlers)
Phases:
Group Formation: Groups engaged in bonding activities.
Competition: Groups competed in games, leading to hostility.
Conflict Resolution: Cooperation tasks (superordinate goals) reduced tensions.
Conclusion: Intergroup conflict can arise from competition, but cooperation toward shared goals can reduce hostility.
