Thomas Malthus
Economist that reasoned, if the human population grew unchecked, there would not be enough food and space for everyone. Charles Darwin said this to be true of all animals, a key component to natural selection
Jean-Baptiste Lamarck
Was one of the first to propose how evolution takes place. Hypothesized (made a testable statement) that organisms could acquire changes in their life and that those changes are heritable. He was wrong, but inspired Charles to improve on the theory of evolution.
Artificial Selection
Nature Provides the variations, humans choose which of those individuals get to mate (that have specific traits). Also known as selective breeding
