Aerobe
a microorganism that requires oxygen to live and grow, such as an aerobic bacterium
Anaerobe
a microorganism that does not require oxygen to live and grow, such as an anaerobic bacterium.
Antibiotic
a chemical that inhibits or stops bacterial growth, such as penicillin: which is used to treat infectious diseases.
Cacilli
rod-shaped bacteria
Capsid
a protein coat that makes up most of a virus and gives the virus shape.
Cocci
round or egg shaped bacteria.
Host
a living thing another organism lives on or in for protection or nourishment.
Infectious Disease
a disease that can be transmitted between people by harmful organisms.
Moneran
a simple organism with no membrane bound nuclei or organelles; occurs as a single cell or in colonies: examples are bacterium and blue green bacterium.

a medicine that produces immunity to a disease without causing the disease; contains weakened or dead pathogens, which induce the production of antibodies.
